Mobile Phones on Public Transport

The petition is entitled Ban Mobile Phones on all public Transport and the explanatory notes say
"Ban all mobile phones on public transport they are a menace to society as if we can't live without them we managed before mobiles came out. Why people have to shout on their mobiles for all to hear is beyond me. Life is stressful enough without mobiles going off on public transport. So if you want to use your mobile get off public transport."

Let us first note that punctuation is permitted.

Mobile phones are not a nuisance on public transport. Idiots misusing mobile phones on public transport are a nuisance. It is perfectly possible to have one's phone on silent and merely use it for texts, or even to converse quietly. One need speak no louder on the phone than to someone sitting next to one, after all.

Most people using phones on buses/trains do so quite reasonably and without causing disruption to other passengers. Other people are disruptive without phones, merely by being loud and/or idiotic.

Let's ban idiots instead.

Oh - and yes, we managed fine without phones. But, gods, they make travelling on public transport easier! And a blessing for mothers who otherwise panic about their (grown up) offspring!
