Work for Asylum Seekers

The petition is entitled allow all asylum seekers to work, and to allow those in UK for more than four years to remain indefinitely and the explanatory notes say
"At present asylum-seekers are not allowed to work, even though they often cannot be returned to their home country. This fuels prejudice against them, and damages their recovery from trauma and integration into society. Those who have been here four years without causing problems, and who Immigration have failed to remove, should not be kept in limbo any longer!"

I agree with this petition whole-heartedly - many people who have been granted asylum (at which point they're not really asylum seekers any more) are highly qualified and motivated individuals who would like to work, yet for some reason I have never understood, they are barred from doing so. Which is just silly.

The problem with this petition is that another almost-identical one already exists. Specifically, urge him reverse his terrible inhuman and degrading policies towards Asylum Seekers (pity about the grammar, but never mind).

Petition creators really should check for duplicates before creating their own ... There are an awful lot of them; I highlight these because I particularly approve of the content, but there are many, many others.
